A bucolic refuge in the village of Carregal Fundeiro, next to the town of Castanheira de Pera. Live the village life surrounded by all comforts. The space has a swimming pool with toilet, garden and children’s playground and includes 3 accommodation types T1 and T3.

The House

A da Escada

Escada is the mother building of the entire property. With more than 100 years of history, this house has known several generations, always within the same family. The stone walls refer to traditional buildings, but comfort is the main note. The rustic, minimalist style includes a fireplace and some centuries-old furniture pieces. In addition to the living room, kitchen and guest bathroom, there is an en-suite bedroom with a double bed, a second bedroom with a double bed and the last bedroom with 4 single beds. The living room opens onto a balcony that overlooks the orchard and the children’s playground.

Next to the pool, Forno offers a more modern minimalist style, maintaining charm in some details. The en-suite bedroom hides a space for a relaxing soaking bath. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave and hob. The dining area with a privileged view over the pool guarantees all the comfort even in winter, thanks to the tiled stove. The living room has a sofa bed, and there is also a guest bathroom.

Castanheira de Pera

Castanheira de Pera has more than six centuries of history. Located on the southern slope of Serra da Lousã, it is framed by Ribeira de Pera and also reflects the splendor of the palatial buildings from the beginning of the 20th century, a time when wool factories made the people of this place prosper.

Praia das Rocas (Wave Pool)

Dive into the largest wave pool in the country and cool off on hot days. Experience the most fun moments of summer, enjoying a ride on a rowing boat or going slide, climbing and rappelling. There are countless activities every day, music and lots of entertainment for all ages.

River Beaches

Discover Nature in its purest state and find some of the best river beaches in the country. Poço Corga has surveillance, changing rooms, a restaurant just a few meters away and has two distinct depth zones. A few kilometers away you will also find Ana de Aviz Beach, Fragas de São Simão and Praia do Mosteiro, among many others.

Serra da Lousã

Enter the Schist Village Route so close by and discover the corners of the magnificent Serra da Lousã, the scene of the legend of the Princess of Peralta. Climb among cork oaks, chestnut trees and oaks to Santo António da Neve or admire the landscape from the Alto do Trevim swing. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a deer along the way.

Quelhas Walkways

Hiking fans will enjoy visiting the Ribeira das Quelhas Walkway. Suitable for almost all ages and physical conditions, this route of approximately 2.5 km (round trip) allows you to photograph waterfalls and crystal-clear water wells framed by shale and granite cliffs and the native forest.

Pedestrian Routes and Sports

In addition to the numerous hiking trails and mountain bike trails with various levels of difficulty, there are tourism and adventure companies in Serra da Lousã that offer the practice of various extreme sports, such as canoeing, rowing, climbing, abseiling or slides. Parties

In Castanheira de Pera there is always something happening. Have fun at the summer festivals organized in the various villages of the municipality or visit us at the beginning of July, during the municipality’s festival in honor of São Domingos. Enjoy the Gastronomic Festival that takes place in the town in April or the Coentral Honey and Chestnut Fair in October. In December, visit Christmas in the Village and spend New Year’s Eve with us.

History

Dive into the Serra da Lousã, heading to Castelo de Arouce, and discover Poços da Neve, where snow was collected more than three hundred years ago to be taken to the court to make ice cream. In the town, visit Casa do Tempo, a museum that celebrates typographic art through a permanent exhibition dedicated to the newspaper O Castanheirense and where there is also space for temporary exhibitions. Discover the Lagar do Corga museum, built on the old mill that is more than four hundred years old, and discover how olive oil was prepared by hand using the driving force of water. Also visit the A Casa do Neveiro Museum Center, in Coentral, and learn about the history of the Folklore Ranch and the uses and customs of the houses of other times.
